Most people believe the future of 5G is getting a lot cheaper and attractive. Now, the FCC has approved the new Samsung Galaxy A32 5G with support for the upcoming C-band 5G networks from AT&T and Verizon. The company also promises a real drop for C-band-compatible smartphone prices from the current $699 to around $300. Point to be noted that C-band is referred to a range of frequencies promises to boost citywide 5G speeds on AT&T and Verizon. Both carriers have spent more than $80 billion. A recent test of CBRS 4G (a technology similar to C-band 5G) on Verizon showed speeds up to 815Mbps and range up to half a mile from a tower. It has only been available on the Apple iPhone 12 series including the Samsung Galaxy S21, the Pixel 5, and the LG Wing smartphones.

The Galaxy A32 with C-band promises a flood of more affordable C-band phones coming between now and the fall after the FCC clearance. The documents from FCC for a C-band-compatible Samsung Galaxy A42 5G and C-band clearance for the Galaxy S21 also came through this week. But, the A32 is the most attractive because it’ll probably be available at around $300. It will almost certainly become free with a new line, pushing fast 5G and CBRS 4G into many more hands. It is noteworthy that a version of the A32 5G is already available in other countries, but we are hopeful the model here will be the same smartphone. The global A32 5G features a MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor and Samsung has a strong preference for using Qualcomm in the United States.

Samsung has no issue splitting processors across countries as we have experienced on the top-of-the-line S models. Other key features on the international mode include a 6.5-inch screen, 48-megapixel main camera with an ultra-wide camera but without zoom, and a 5,000mAh powerful battery. It is important that C-band capabilities are much easier for manufacturers to put into phones, so they should become a lot more common and remarkably fast. Keep in mind that the frequency is much similar to what European countries have been using for 5G. Until now, the logjam appears to have been FCC testing and clearance protocols. Samsung has planned to announce a plethora of new A-series phones at 10 am ET on 17th March 2021.
