Quick tips for blog topic research

At YashaaGlobal, during our Jacksonville SEO webinars for small businesses, we always get these questions, what is the best way to improve SEO and also for how to search for a better blog topic for our niche.

Researching topics for your blog can be both hectic and confusing at the same time. That leads to poor topic selection and sometimes you may select topics which no one is searching for. If we don’t select the correct topic It may later result in not accomplishing the results you must be expecting. Conducting proper blog research for a topic can result in better conversions, page views, etc.

Here below our Internet Marketing Service experts have listed few highly effective tips you can use for blog topic research.

  • Brainstorming Topics

Brainstorming Topics is done on various bases consider what your goal for writing the blog is

So let us start with an example

Consider You Have e-commerce store for selling Schoolbags

Niche – School Bags

i.e. your target audience are students under the age of 17

Target Audience – Parents of school students whose Age is less than 17

Goal – Online Purchase of Bag from your Website

Now as we know what is our goal and our target audience.

You have to categorize your niche under the sections mentioned below

Industrial Topics are those topics which are broader in sense and are more discussed Like – School Bags, College Bags, Travel Bags

User Problem-Related topics are those topics that answer the user problem

“Back-pain Due to Heavy Bags”

Product/Service-related are those topics that are intended to directly sell the product

“Best School Bags for 10-year-old”, “Comfortable school Bags for 13-year-old”, “Best Girls bag for 8 years old” Now you have to focus more on topics that will drive conversion.

  • Understanding Competitors Topics

Competitors are a great help when it comes to Topic research.

It reduces your effort for finding what is working.

You have to do extensive research on their website.

You can use paid tools like SEMrush, ahrefs, etc., and free tools like Google Trends, Ubersuggest, etc. to know-how which blog are they ranking on and what are keywords they are ranking.

  • Finding keywords that are Less Competitive High Search Volume

In simple words High Demand and Low Supply i.e. search for keywords that are being searched more but don’t have enough relevant content to the keyword.

This can be done using paid tools or extensions available on chrome like Keywords everywhere, Surfer, etc.

But how does it work?

When you search anything on google this extension shows the number of searches on that particular keyword and suggests more related keywords.

You can make an excel sheet of these keywords and decide which one to write.

  • Understanding What is being Searched.

There are a lot of suggestions of what people are searching on google while you are searching for any topic like

  • Google Suggestions

Google suggestions appear when you are typing something on the Google search and a list of related keywords will start to appear below.

This is a hint from google.

  • People also ask

After searching on google you will find a section called People also ask below the 1st or 2nd search result.

These are the questions people are searching on google.

You can write a blog answering the questions related to your niche

  • Searches related to

You will find the search related to the keyword at the bottom of the page. These are the frequent searches viewers doing on google.

These 3 sections on google provide you with a lot of hints on what people are looking for.

  • Use Tools

There are a lot of tools available that generate a lot of keywords.

For Ex. There is a tool named “Answer The Public” which generates a lot of keywords when you search only for one

If your niche is School Bags is will generate many keywords starting with why which, who, how what, etc. and keywords that contain will, can, are, is, for, to, without, near, etc.

You have to browse them and select that best suits your niche's interest.

Conclusion

Now you may have understood a lot of areas about how to research any topic. Also to understand this topic in more detail, you can also refer to a blog on SEO strategy with blogs by an expert SEO company. I hope these tips help you in conducting extensive research for your blog that will rank better on google.

Last tip: Always search for topics that surround your goal otherwise you may receive traffic on your page but that may not convert into a sale. Your mindset should always revolve around the goal so that you search for ideas that convert.
