You have chosen your painting surface, but wait, you do not have paints. Painting is a difficult task when you have no idea about how it can be used? And what is their connection with painting surfaces? All types of painting have their specialty, and they have chemistry with different surfaces. If you think you can use a single piece of paint on a wall, or a wooden box, you are wrong. It is not a possible thing. Also, every type of paint has some association with the sprayer used.

You use different paint sprayers, and all of them are designed by keeping paint surfaces in mind. The paint sprayer you are using on a wall does not need to be suitable for a wooden surface. And same is the case with the type of paint you choose for your sprayers. Some types of paint are thicker, others are heavier or thin. So, this mismatching goes on, and it is up to you to select the best one for your paint sprayer.

It is your job to identify the type of paint that will work with your sprayer. And if you are not familiar with different paint types, this guide is for you. It will help you a lot in your painting journey.

Types of paint

There are several types of paint, but their application is also essential. When you are using a paint sprayer, you have to keep a lot of things in mind. Also, it is vital is to thicken all of them before using them in sprayers. All types of paint sprayers stop working when thick and heavy paint is used in them. No matter what type of paint you are using, it is compulsory for you to thin your paint before using it through a paint sprayer. It will make your job easy, and in case if you do not have the right consistency of paint in the paint sprayer you can seek help from paint manufactures. They will provide you a proper guideline on paint thinning.

Before you choose to paint, let’s discuss its types:

Enamel

It is a long-lasting paint, and two coats of enamel are enough at one time. It is a thick paint and therefore it stays for a longer time. It can bear all weather conditions, and it contains polymers. It stays hard no matter whatever the environmental conditions are. If you applied two enamel coats, they are enough, and you rely on an enamel finish.

Enamel is used in combination always. You can only use it for finishing after applying it to another coat of paint. It is not used on its own, as it completes the painting look and needs another coat of paint under it. But using it provides shine to your product or wall. It adds luster as it is an oil-based paint.

Enamel gives you a glossy or semi-glossy look to the objects and surfaces on which it is used.  If you have to apply with a paint sprayer, you can decrease its consistency to some extent to get an easy application.

Acrylic

If you cannot wait for a long time, and you need an urgent coating go for acrylic paints. They have a shorter drying duration and are the best choice for urgent painting. They are available in many forms including, glossy, semi-glossy, satin, flat, and eggshell finish.  They are not only glossy, but they also bring shine to your surface. And they are a bit smoother than other types of paint.

Acrylic paints are commonly used on ceilings, and they get dry in less time. They have a strong sheen and work best on the same surface. By using airless sprayers with titan packing kits, you can use them on wooden surfaces, ceilings, and trim. They mostly go well with ceilings, and the gloss they add to your surfaces almost has a glare in them.

Epoxy

It is sticky paint, and it contains plastics, polymers, and other adhesives substances in it. The epoxy consists of a lot of adhesives materials, so it gets heavier. And it weighs more than other types of paints. The sticky substances present in it make it thicker, and it gets difficult to use it with the help of a paint sprayer. So, for this purpose, you can decrease its consistency to a certain level. It would help in the comfortable application of epoxy.

It is not comfortable paint as it is not compatible with all types of paint sprayers. Before using it with paint sprayers, it is essential to give it a manual try. It would help you in measuring the consistency, and you can make changes on time. It is tough to use epoxy but is a brilliant option when it comes to coating.

Plastic paint

It is a unique type of paint and is used rarely. You can use it for painting tables, chairs, and other plastic materials you use for outdoor purposes. It is heavy paint and is both chip-proof and fade-proof. Before using it, make sure you have done primer coating first.
