“WandaVision” May Have Already Teased Up About the Villain of the Next “Doctor Strange” Film

The new spellbook of Wanda shown in “WandaVision” may have already alluded towards the entry of a new villain in the upcoming MCU tentpole “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

The show titled “WandaVision,” which became the first-ever Marvel series to be released on Disney+ has released its final episode on the streaming service, and Marvel fans can now finally look forward to other projects. However, the entire saga relayed in the nine-episode long sitcom thriller is expected to resonate in the entirety of Marvel Phase 4.

The opinion pertaining to the climax of “WandaVision” might vary from viewer to viewer, but the general feeling among the fans reveals to us that the positive vibes given away at the end of “WandaVision” offered more than merely resolving the grief Wanda was attending to inside an alternate reality called “Hex” (a world based on sitcoms that she had watched). As always, several fans professed their theories on the internet on how the series, which is the first release from Marvel after the pandemic, is going to shape the rest of Phase 4 of Marvel Cinematic Universe.

All in all, “WandaVision” did not offer anything special than just a beautiful and well-contained story. X-Men did not appear in the climax, and neither did Benedict Cumberbatch. However, the director of the series Matt Shakman used the climax of the series to lay the basis of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff’s introduction in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel.

The second Doctor Strange film, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness,” is expected to be released in the month of March 2022. There have been few break-offs, but Marvel Studios are still adamant about releasing the film in early 2022.

Now, let us come on to the main subject.

In the final fight, Agnes, aka Agatha Harkness (played by Kathryn Hahn), told Wanda that her spellbook had been the long-debated “Darkhold” all this time. If you have read the Marvel comics, you would know that something called “Darkhold” is a powerful magic source. “Darkhold” does have a connection with the demon named “Chthon,” and now it has been theorized that “Darkhold” might have already suggested the name of the villain for the upcoming Benedict Cumberbatch starrer “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

“Darkhold” was first revealed in the 1972 comic run called “Marvel Spotlight #4.” Just like in the show, the book is also often called “The Book of Sins.” It was created by an Elder God named “Chthon” as a means of the pathway to the planet Earth, containing unfathomable and destructive magical spells.

In one of the comics’ versions, Chthon also played a part in Wanda Maximoff’s journey of becoming a powerful Avenger named “Scarlet Witch” as he had instilled a source of “chaos magic” inside of her.

Now, since Agatha Harkness has mooted for both “chaos magic” and “Darkhold,” we are free to assume that Chthon will be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the future. Who knows? Perhaps, he would be the villain of the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel.

And, Agatha Harkness’s happiness during the final battle might insinuate the fact that since Wanda has accepted Agatha’s power, she might accidentally set Chthon free to wreak havoc on the planet earth.

Can Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff stop him? Well, only time can tell.
