IPL 2021: Jason Behrendorff Replaces Josh Hazlewood in CSK

This news came on Thursday with just one day left for Indian Premier League 14 to kick off. India has been witnessing a second wave of the Covid-19 and the has started to touch the margin of 1 lakh cases daily. This is why the IPL, to maintain the bio bubble is being hosted at 6 venues in the country with not team having the home advantage.

Hazlewood has only wicket in his 3-match IPL career and he became the third Australian to quit the tournament this year. Josh Philippe, who was retained by Royal Challengers Banglore, had become the first one to do so followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.

Behrendorff to Replaces Hazlewood

Chennai Super Kings revealed on Friday that Jason Behrendorff would be replacing Josh Hazlewood in the squad. “Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff has signed up with the Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for compatriot Josh Hazlewood for the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.” The left-arm fast bowler has played 11 ODIs and seven T20Is so far. This is going to be second IPL of Behrendorff. He represented Mumbai Indians in 2019 where he played five matches to scalp as many wickets.

The IPL 2021 will start on April 9 with a match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chennai Super Kings will be starting their IPL 2021 campaign with a match against Delhi Capitals on April 10 in Mumbai.
