Tips for a Productive Work-From-Home Routine.

Many people find themselves working from home during the pandemic and this could continue even once lockdown has ended. Even if this sounds ideal for a high percentage of people (and there are certainly many perks), it is vital that you do not let this affect your performance and productivity and there are a few tips that will help you to work to a high standard and enjoy the perks that WFH can provide.

Working From Home

According to statistics, 60% of the UK’s adult population are currently WFH with 26% planning to continue with this at least on a part-time basis going forward. Many people are enjoying the greater work-life balance, no commute and extra time at home, but there are also challenges with many not having a suitable office, distractions and feelings of isolation (made worse by lockdown). Here are a few tips which will help you to WFH effectively.

Establish a Routine

While one of the perks of WFH is more flexibility, it is still important to establish a routine in order to be productive. This should involve getting up at the same time each day, taking breaks at around the same time and finishing at the same time. This will help to separate work and home and help you to stay focused.

Set Up a Productive Home Office

It is hard to work to a high standard at home if you are on your laptop while watching TV or working in a busy part of the house. Ideally, you will have a spare room which you can turn into an office but if not then you need to find a quiet part of the home and ensure that you have a desk, office chair and enough space for working.

Wear Comfortable Clothing

Another major perk of WFH is that you can wear comfortable clothing and this could make a big difference to your performance. Buying a pair of comfortable women’s trousers could be a great way to feel more comfortable while working, but it is still a good idea to change clothes after work as a way to separate work from home.

Get Out Once a Day

Finally, it is important to get out of the house in order to prevent cabin fever. Obviously, this is harder when there are restrictions in place but even a walk around teh block at the end of the day can be helpful for avoiding loneliness and for separating work and home.

Hopefully, these tips will help you to improve your WFH performance and get the most out of this way of working.
