Review of three types of turbines

In this article, we intend to introduce and review three types of widely used turbines. Read the following.

Francis Turbine

The definition of the Francis turbine is a combination of impulse and hybrid turbines. The blades rotate using both the reaction and the impact force flowing through them to generate electricity more efficiently. Francis turbines are used primarily to create more electricity in medium or large-scale hydropower plants.

Francis turbines are the most common water turbines used today. "The Francis design with a head height of 30 to 600 meters has been used, but offers its best performance between 100 and 300 meters," and is used primarily to generate electricity. Electric generators, which often use this type of turbine, have an output power that generally varies from a few kilowatts to 1,000 megawatts, although mini-hydraulics may be less. More Details in Linquip

Impulse Turbine

Impulse turbines operate based on changing velocity vectors. In general, the potential energy of water (or other liquid, such as steam) is converted to kinetic energy by one or more nozzles based on the height of the cascade. Then the water strikes the turbine blades at high speed, causing the turbine to spin. As a result, it generates electricity. More Details in Linquip

What is Kaplan Turbine?

Kaplan Turbine is a type of water turbine with adjustable blades. These turbines are primarily used in hydroelectric power plants. These turbines must be designed so that they can flow large amounts of water without damage. The design of Kaplan turbines is slightly different from other turbines. More Details in Linquip
