IPL 2021: Rohit Sharma Explained the Reason for the Loss Against Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians by nine wickets with 14 balls to spare in Chennai. Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians captain spoke about the loss after the match. He identified the low score as the major reason for the loss.

Reason for loss

Mumbai Indians batted first in the 17th match of the Indian Premier League as Rohit Sharma, the skipper ended as the highest run-scorer with 63 runs including five fours and two maximums. However, it was not. Rohit hardly got any support from his colleagues and the second-highest run-scorer of the side was Suryakumar Yadav with 33 runs. Punjab Kings comfortably chased down the target of mere 132 runs with nine wickets in hand.

Speaking on the match, Rohit Sharma said, “Not enough runs, exactly. I still feel it’s not a bad wicket to bat on. You can see how Kings won with nine wickets in hand. If you get 150-160 you’re always in the game and that is something we’ve failed in the last two games, we need to look at that. We can look at it either way – their bowlers bowled very well in that powerplay.”

He also added, “Ishan was tyring to hit but couldn’t get it, even myself. We were trying but the wicket was easy. In the last four games we really batted well in the powerplay but today we failed to do so. We’re missing batting all 20 overs the way we want to. Something we need to look at.”
