Things To Consider While Implementing Cloud ERP

Transitioning to the cloud is essential for maintaining competitiveness and ensuring long-term growth. Choosing an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system in the cloud is an attractive option - and rightfully so. The potential benefits are many. Unfortunately, most Cloud ERP projects exceed their planned schedules and budgets and often don't meet their planned goals.

Many companies are looking for a system integration partner who understands the deployment path in moving to the cloud. Unfortunately, some integration companies fail to do what it takes to fully understand their customers' processes and end up selling them jobs that may or may not meet the company's needs.

Here are the most important considerations for a successful cloud ERP project.

  1. Coordination with stakeholders and management:This is one of those situations where lip service doesn't work. The transformation team requires the blessing of executives and executives and the involvement and coordination of all major IT stakeholders and related business groups. While a specific move to the cloud affects only business process owners and project participants, a top-down/bottom-up approach will help minimize risk, ensure transparency and increase accountability at all levels.

  2. Create a strong implementation strategy:Before starting a project, create an approved business case and project charter to create a general implementation plan that includes project implementation, objectives, timeline, approach, timeline, and organizational structure in which key stakeholders, management, most important assumptions, and dependencies are identified. When working with implementation partners, ask them to share their proven tools, accelerators, and industry practices to accelerate how they can improve business processes and reduce the burden of gathering user stories and requirements. Once the project has started, create a project communication plan for the entire organization and entry and exit criteria for each phase or project testing cycle. Determine how you will handle the risks, requirements, and quality of the project. The predefined strategy facilitates coordination with other third-party software and system providers and ensures the testing cycle starts smoothly. Document in advance with all deployment partners and software providers how you will handle data security, confidentiality, control, and administration.

  3. Outline your project management plan:Your transformation safety fence is the key to successful project implementation. Ensure that your project charter document includes a structured and thoughtful project management plan followed throughout the implementation life cycle. Projects can be long and out of date for several years. By managing them early, your team can make decisions more quickly that align with the company's overall goals.
