Saudi Arabia Football World Cup: Saudi Arabia arrange a friendly with Jordan as part of World Cup qualification training camp

The Saudi Arabia national team will begin its training camp on May 15 to resume Qatar Football World Cup qualifying next month. As part of the preparation, a friendly match against Jordan is planned.

Fans from all over the world are called to book Football world Cup tickets from our online platforms WorldWideTicketsandHospitality.com. Football World Cup fans can book Saudi Arabia Football World Cup Tickets on our website at exclusively discounted prices.

Although the meeting will begin in Jeddah, Coach Bert van Marwijk will initially be without the players of Shabab Al Ahli and Al Nasr, who will play in the Presidents Cup final on May 16, while Al Wahda will have to play a rescheduled Arabian Gulf League match against Fujairah after recently playing in the Asian Champions League.

Saudi Arabia will face Jordan on May 24 at the emirate in preparation for the resumption of the postponed qualifiers on June 3. The national team, currently fourth in Group G, will face Malaysia in the first of four matches in 13 days. They will then face Thailand, Indonesia, and group leaders Vietnam.

All remaining Group G matches will be played in Saudi Arabia after the soccer federation won the right to act as a central hub for eight matches in March. Zabeel Stadium in Al Wasl and Al Maktoum Stadium in Nasr has been selected as venues.

After Malaysia, Saudi Arabia will play Thailand on June 7, Indonesia four days later and Vietnam on June 15 to complete the second qualifying round. Only the first-place finisher in each group is eligible for a spot in the next round, as are the top four runners-up.

Saudi Arabia, which has qualified for the World Cup only once before, is five points behind Vietnam, although it has a one-match advantage over each of its group opponents.

Van Marwijk, 68, takes over as coach for the second time after replacing Colombian Jorge Luis Pinto in December. The Dutchman, who led the Netherlands to the 2010 World Cup final and then masterminded Saudi Arabia's qualification for 2018 final, led Saudi Arabia for nine months in 2019.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic means Van Marwijk finds the national team in the same condition as when he left in December 2019, with Saudi Arabia last winning 6-0 in a friendly against India on March 29.

As reported last week, the EFL is looking into returning spectators for World Cup qualifiers. The Presidents Cup final at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain will be open to all fans with a 30% occupancy rate - the first-time spectators have been welcome at a professional soccer match since late February last year.
