The national emblem of India is the Ashoka Chakra. There are four animals on the national emblem of India. The emblem forms a part of the official letterhead of the Government of India and appears on all Indian currency as well. By naked eyes you will only see 3 lions, fourth one being hidden from your view - animals in national emblem.

The wheel appears in relief in the centre of the abacus, with a bull on the right and a galloping horse on the left, and outlines of Dharma Chakras on the extreme right and left. The original lion capital minus the inverted bell-shaped lotus flower, this has been adopted as the National Emblem of India - national emblem animals.

Actually four animals on Lion Capital made by Ashoka are symbols representing life of Budhhas. Conservation is important in protecting many different animal species.
