How Can We Fix the Media?

Mainstream media is broken. I think everybody can agree on that. Somewhere along the line it became less about reporting the news, and more about delivering bias agendas, tainted messages, personal motives, and more. Which would explain why mainstream media has lost a lot of popularity amongst the masses, and its viewership is down. It would also explain why those same individuals are looking for content elsewhere, at more prominent news sources and content providers like The Doe and others.

The fault of mainstream media is that it has lost the trust of many of its viewership. However, until it regains that trust, the industry as a whole should not suffer. In fact, it should use this opportunity to prosper and grow. As more and more people look for alternatives to mainstream media, the industry as a whole should listen to the voiced concerns of the people. One immediate channel in which media players can do this is through anonymous content.

More and more viewers, listeners, and internet users are drawn towards anonymous content for the positives and perks that they have. For instance, when publishing through anonymous content, the reader is not bombarded with the bias that they are usually bombarded with from mainstream media outlets. They’re also not bombarded with relentless ads and pop-ups. Anonymous content providers aim to provide the content in a non-diluted, raw way. Often times they do this at the expense of their own livelihood and safety, hence the anonymity.

If the media industry as a whole can use this as a first step towards launching something greater and more profound, then there is hope for the industry yet. If not, then they may regress to old tired tactics, and continue to bleed followers, audience, listeners, and popularity.
