Choosing an NDIS Psychologist – A Guide for Support People, Parents, and Carers

Considering NDIS Psychology for Your Loved One

NDIS counselling for disability is designed around offering practical support that helps participants achieve their goals. NDIS-funded psychologists provide capacity building supports – that means they support individuals in their everyday life by increasing social, educational, and employment opportunities.

NDIS counselling helps people at a wide variety of different ability levels. The support of experienced NDIS counselling can help prepare someone to enter the workforce, or just help them manage the everyday challenges that come with having a disability.

At Life Resolutions, we understand that you want the best for your loved ones, and you want to make sure they’re always safe and comfortable. Our compassionate Essendon counsellors ensure the unique needs of people with disabilities are met, while still helping them grow and thrive through new challenges.

Accessing NDIS Counselling
When you create an NDIS plan with your loved one, you allocate funding to a variety of different areas. NDIS funding for counselling might already be included in your plan, under the capacity building supports provision.

If NDIS counselling is not currently allocated under your loved one’s NDIS plan, Plan-Managed participants can talk to their Plan Manager about seeking funding for counselling, while Self-Managed participants can request a plan review.

Once funding is allocated and approved, individuals who are Plan-Managed or Self-Managed can access NDIS counselling through any provider. Our Life Resolutions Essendon NDIS counselling team offers experienced, compassionate counselling for Australians with disabilities.

Choosing an NDIS Psychologist
There are lots to think about when it comes to choosing a psychologist for your loved one. You’ll want to make sure the person you care for feels comfortable and supported, and you also want to make sure you’re kept in the loop so you can best support your loved one at home.

If accessibility might be a challenge, choosing a counsellor who offers telehealth sessions is a great option. Our Life Resolutions team offer the option to talk to an NDIS counsellor on the phone or online from anywhere in Australia if visiting us at our Essendon psychology centre doesn’t always suit you.

At Life Resolutions, we have a proud history of supporting all people to achieve their best. Our team understand the unique challenges Australians with disabilities face, and we’re committed to always offering compassionate, caring, and accessible support.
