Important Tips For Lab Design Architects

Designing a lab is very important that needs you to appoint highly experienced and qualified engineers, design architects, planners safety experts, chemical engineers, and a lot of other qualified people.

You want to design your lab in the best perfect way to prevent hazards and ensure the safety of the employees inside but that’s only one thing.

The other thing is to ensure that the workspace is highly optimized in structure and design to minimize the mechanical work such that employees can be more productive when working inside the laboratories.

Here we will give you some quick ideas on how you can design the lab and hire architects accordingly.

Ensuring that you have all the safety systems in place

When the designing part is going on which is the main work of the architects and design planners you got to ensure that the safety systems are in place.

By safety systems, we mean the fire suppression systems, smoke detection systems, and outlets, fume hoods, etc.

It should also have adequate room temperature or internal temperature control systems that ensure the ambient temperature within the working environment. This is mostly the task of the safety planners and system experts to get an idea of this.

Storage of chemicals should have extensive planning

You need to extensively plan for the storage space inside a chemical lab. See within the industrial or biochemical facilities some chemicals are highly toxic, corrosive. It is needless to say that they are not only hazardous for the employees but mishandling them can also cause damage to the storage cabinets.

You need to ensure that the hazardous chemicals are stored in a separate chamber with fire-resistant doors and locks. At least this will prevent the highly corrosive chemicals from coming in contact with the outside air and cause their further devastation.

You need to fully ensure that such hazardous chemicals are only stored in the anti-inflammable chemical cabinets.

Further, there should be separate chemical storage facilities for better safety. Such as the acids should not be stored with the bases in the same cabinet neither the oxidizing agents should be stored in the same chamber as the reducing agents.

Fume hoods and HVAC compartments and workbenches to prevent contamination

Installing workbenches with HVAC fume hoods is highly important. There are some chemical reactions during the manufacturing process which are highly suffocating or poisonous for the human skin and eyes that are released in trace amounts. Such trace amounts can only be evacuated from the facility immediately if there is an HVAC filter above the workbenches.
