The finest wool obtained from sheep is considered to be of the Marino breed. Its major species are found in America, Australia, France, South Africa and South America. Merino wool is world famous for its properties such as softness, fineness, strength, flexibility and excellent spin. The fiber of this wool is so fine that even after mixing its five fibers, its thickness is equal to that of a man's hair. One third of the world's wool comes from the Marino breed of sheep. It is believed that a merino sheep produces enough wool in a year that its fibers can be stretched 5500 miles in length.
The hair of juvenile camels is also relatively soft, from which brushes, blankets and carpets are made. Apart from these,  vardhman winter shine woolen blankets, ropes and rugs are also made from the hair of yak and mithun found in Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland.
