contemporary design whether your choice of home decor aesthetic, contemporary living room ideas are always fun to consider and can inspire your decorating choices – even if you don’t consider yourself a “contemporary person.”
This is where the first question lies – what is contemporary design? What makes this space at Studio Ashby contemporary? And after that – what defines him? In what ways can you reference it in your living room?

Contemporary interiors are often considered ultra minimal with an abundance of razor-sharp lines, graphic prints, and high gloss materials and surfaces. They say it’s dynamic and daring. He is praised for pushing the limits and his mastery of light and reflection. He is criticized for his brutal and clinical nature.

All of these points are certainly true for contemporary interiors, but there are more layers than that. It is a design movement in the image of the here and now, representing a break from traditional decoration.

Browsing through centuries of interior design styles and influences, from neoclassical to rococo to mid-century and Shaker, there is a constant sway between ornamentation and bare, curves and straight lines. and ornate carvings against geometric contours.

But ironically, these historic periods of design will have been contemporary at some point.

Contemporary design is all about innovation and change that presents us with something new, different, and, at times, disruptive from what we have seen before.

HOW TO DESIGN A CONTEMPORARY STYLE LIVING ROOM?
A contemporary living room design can achieve many aspects of your room. Or if you want to create a more eclectic interior with just a few occasional contemporary style pieces, you can choose to bring just one or two current references.
Remember, however, that a modern living room is different from a contemporary living room. Modern design is linked to the beginning of the 20th century and is much less fluid because it is affixed at a specific time. Modern is an umbrella term that covers what later became mid-century and post-modernism.
Each of the modern design movements has a clear identity, while contemporary design is in constant influx, borrowing inspiration from different design eras and melting them into something new and exciting.

USE OF COLOR
Color – one of the most important areas for contemporary living room ideas. It’s a common misconception that a contemporary scheme is all about bright white.
Contemporary living rooms should have a stark contrast in the colors used, even if you used mostly white and there is a key piece of furniture in the room that is deliberately protruding.
Monochrome is a favorite because it allows you to go from one extreme to the other. Keep your color choices confident and don’t be afraid to move around the color wheel. Contemporary color palettes are strong and like to create interesting contradictions. That’s part of what makes them so vibrant.

INCORPORATE VARIOUS LINES INTO YOUR DESIGN
Another of the main associations with contemporary design is that the lines should always be clean and crisp. It’s another matter of contrast. It is the modern movements that put all their attention on strong lines.
Contemporary style, on the other hand, prefers to mix the two. If you have a curvaceous ottoman and sofa set, bring a modern art style sculpture or an edgy pendant that will grab attention and bring diversity.

CONTEMPORARY STYLE FURNITURE
One of the things that contemporary style furniture has in common is that the legs of sofas and armchairs are almost always exposed. Tapered, slanted wooden feet are preferred over traditional turned feet on roller feet or hidden under a skirt. Your surfaces and other furniture should blend exposed metals and glass with the occasional look of exposed wood.
