Ranking the 9 Strongest Final Fantasy Ultimate Weapons

An element that makes the Final Fantasy (FF) installments different from one another is their weapons. Among the many, many types, the most special is the ultimate weapons. These are unique single-weapon models specially built as the best versions of their respective games.

Yet the more important matter here is, while some are extremely powerful and useful, others are just simply a bummer. Here are some of the nine strongest FF ultimate weapons.

Lightbringer

If there is another great thing about these weapons, their intricate designs and detail-oriented efficiency emphasise why FF is one of the best RPG games on the market.

Also known as Illumina, this is a weapon immersed with the Holy element. Hence, it has the power to quickly execute the undead. It appeared several times in different FF installments, notably as a ranged weapon in FF IV and VI.

Masamune

Massively huge and the original ultimate weapon of the FF franchise, Masamune is one of the most popular and powerful katanas available to any type of character. If it helps to decide whether it’s worth it, keep in mind that it’s wielded by Sephiroth.

Ragnarok

A.K.A. the Crystal Sword, Ragnarok is an epitome of a knight or holy sword. It’s so powerful and manifested that it contrastingly matches dark swords from Norse and Germanic origins.

Save the Queen

Save the Queen is a debatable powerful sword because it differs by several types. What’s proven, however, is that it’s efficiently powerful for female characters or Paladins (i.e. Beatrice choosing it as her choice of weapon).

Excalibur

One of the most popular legendary swords in the Matter of Britain, Excalibur is now among the strongest recurring weapons featured in almost all FF installments. Like Lightbringer, it’s often linked to the Holy element, which also explains why it has a cheap artificial version: Excalipoor.

Ultima Weapon

Weapons become famous because of iconic characters, and the Ultima Weapon is highly best known as the main weapon of Cloud Strife. It’s so versatile that it sometimes appears as a dual blade, gun, or gunblade. Best of all, it challenges every player to take the game to greater heights. If the user’s health points (HP) increases, the sharper the weapon’s blade becomes.

Apocalypse

The Apocalypse is a well-balanced recurring weapon throughout the series. Among all of its handlers, it was really the wise choice for Terra.

Tournesol

With its special design, background, and power, it’s no wonder it appeals to almost all gamers. The golden sword with runes carved on the blade is the ultimate greatsword for any type of game in the series.

Buster Sword

The Buster Sword is an iconic weapon because, after all, it appears in one of the best FF RPG games: FF VII. Like Tournesol, the five to six feet long sword holds so much story and power. It belonged to the late Zack Fair, who then passed it down to Cloud.
