An embryo transfer is the final step in the IVF cycle, which is done to help women conceive when they are unable to do so. This is probably the most crucial step in the whole IVF treatment, as one or more healthy embryos are transferred into the woman’s uterus to help attain pregnancy. These transferred embryos should ‘stick’ to the uterine layer, get nourishment from the uterus and continue its growth there. Only then will it result in a successful pregnancy. Typically, it take 10 to 14 days from the date of embryo transfer to perform a blood test to ascertain pregnancy.
This waiting period is a very emotional time for the woman. She needs to slow down if her life is hectic, relax a bit and focus on positive things. There are few symptoms which may occur in those 2 weeks’ time, like,

• Mood swings
• Cramps
• Joint pain or muscle aches
• Sore breasts
• Light spotting
• Feeling tired
But relax and don’t worry. These signs are similar to premenstrual symptoms but it could also be early symptoms of pregnancy. Having said that, if any of these symptoms occur frequently, then it is important to contact your doctor for further instructions.
