Northern Knights defeat Munster Reds by 5 wickets

In cricket news, the Munster Reds had to play without their captain, Tyrone Kane in the last match of the weekend. Leg spinner Ben White, who plays cricket club for CSNI put up an impressive display, claiming 5 wickets for 13 runs and restricting the Munster Reds to a meagre 137 - 9. White’s bowling figures were the 2nd best in the history of the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy history, becoming the first spinner to achieve this milestone.

P J Moor put up a formidable fight for the Munster Reds, registering 49 runs from 24 balls. Josh Manley (23*) and Aaron Cawley (19) added to the scoresheet but the game never looked beyond the control of Northern Knights.

The Northern Knights lost their opener, James McCollum in the second over as pacer Aaron Cawley’s delivery edged McCollum’s bat and was caught by PJ Moor. However, Luke Georgeson scored his fifth half century with 51 runs off 49 balls to dampen Munster Reds’ hopes.

Harry Tector (18) and Ruhan Pretorius (14) added to the scoresheet but the game was truly lost for the Munster Reds when Mark Adair (21 runs off 14 balls) and Neil Rock (26 runs off 14 balls) helped the Knights move second on the T20 Trophy table, behind North West Warriors.
