How to bake a cake in air fryer

Did you know that an air fryer can be used to prepare a variety of different dishes? One in particular that I enjoy is an air fryer cake. What? Is it possible to bake a cake in an air fryer? Yes! Absolutely! The best part is that they bake more quickly than a conventional oven.

If you live in a small flat, a motor home, or a tiny house and lack access to a conventional oven, consider purchasing one of these. Or perhaps it's summer and you're not in the mood to turn on the oven. Making a cake with this tool is a brilliant idea and a great way to put that cool kitchen gadget to use.

What is the purpose of an air fryer?

To begin, allow me to define an air fryer. Air fryers are small kitchen appliances that function similarly to mini convection ovens. They are heated by a coil heating element located at the top of the unit.

Take a look at these additional recipes!

Above the heating coil is a small fan that blows air past the coil, causing the air to heat up. On the inside, the hot air circulates all around, cooking the food. And the result is healthier food, as little oil is required.

How to make an air fryer cake

Now it's time to bake a cake with this ingenious little device. To begin, you'll require a few ingredients and tools.

  • Cake batter – Make your own cake batter or purchase a store-bought cake mix.
  • Air Fryer – The air fryer is, of course, the star of this recipe. There are numerous brands to choose from.
  • Cake pan – that is compatible with the air fryer. You are not required to use the one included in the kit; simply measure the inside of your air fryer basket and use a cake pan that is slightly smaller.
  • Cake Strips – are a nice touch, but are not required. They assist in maintaining the level of the cake during baking, preventing it from doming in the center.

1st step: Prepare the batter for the cake

  • To begin, prepare the cake batter, whether using your favorite cake recipe or a cake mix. Simply follow the instructions on the box's back.
  • Almost certainly, you'll need some oil, eggs, and water. If you enjoy chocolate cake, you should try this recipe.

Prepare the cake pan in Step 2.

  • Following that, prepare your cake pan. I use a specialized cake pan that came with my air fryer accessory kit, and it works flawlessly. You are not required to use that specific cake pan.
  • Any cake pan that fits comfortably inside the basket will suffice. Prepare the pan by coating the inside with shortening. Then add some flour and tap the pan around to coat the shortening with flour.
  • Additionally, as an added precaution, you can line the bottom of your pan with a round piece of parchment paper. We're not interested in the cake sticking to the bottom!

Step three: Fill the pan halfway

  • Now simply fill the pan halfway with your cake batter. Soak a cake strip in water, wring it out, and then wrap it around your pan.
  • Cake strips assist in ensuring even baking, ensuring that the outsides of the cake do not bake longer than the center. Additionally, they aid in preventing the cake from doming and cracking in the center.
  • If you have any leftover cake batter, you can either fill the cake pan halfway and then remove it and refill it with the remaining batter, or you can make cupcakes with it.

Step 4: It's time to air fry!

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (176 C). Additionally, it will include a timer. Set a timer for twenty minutes. Allow the air fryer to come to temperature for 1 to 2 minutes before removing the basket. Fill the cake pan halfway with batter and slide the basket into the air fryer.

Step 5: Checking the doneness of the cake

  • After 17–18 minutes, carefully remove the basket from the air fryer. With a toothpick, poke a hole in the center of the cake. If it is clean, the cake is ready to serve.
  • If not, replace the basket with the cake in the air fryer and turn it on for an additional 5 minutes. Handle the basket and cake pan with extreme caution; they will be extremely hot!
  • Allow the air fryer cake to cool completely.
  • Remove the cake from the air fryer and place it on a hot pad. Allow approximately 10 minutes for cooling.
  • Then, flip the cake over and remove it; it should easily come out. Remove the parchment paper and cool the cake completely on a wire rack.

Step 7: It's time to decorate the cake

  • Once the cake has cooled, decorate it as desired. Add a dollop of delectable homemade buttercream frosting or substitute storebought frosting. Sprinkle some chocolate or other types of sprinkles on top; do whatever you want; this is your cake. Enjoy!

How long will this cake remain edible?

If you wrap the unfrosted cake in plastic wrap or place it in an airtight container, it will keep for several days at room temperature or approximately a week in the refrigerator. If it is frozen, wrap it loosely in plastic wrap or foil and store it in the refrigerator for about a week.

Is it possible to freeze this air fryer cake?

Yes! Wrap the cake in plastic wrap and place it in the freezer for several months. If it is frozen, place it on an uncovered freezer safe sheet pan and freeze for 4 to 5 hours. Wrap it in plastic wrap or foil and place it in the freezer for several months.
