Cybereason Launched Its Managed Security Service Provider Program to Double Down On Its North American Channel

In computer networking, managed security services typically are network security services, which have been outsourced to an outsourcing service provider. The origins of MSSPs can be traced back to the early Internet Service Providers at the end to mid-1990s. The term MSSP was coined to signify the time period in which a business would purchase its own security hardware and software, in order to maintain its own network infrastructure. It is important to note that this type of service has been around for more than twenty years, and has several benefits which make it attractive to businesses. One of the major benefits of this type of service is the economies of scale that it allows a larger business to enjoy.

For any organization, cost is always a key constraint. However, managed security service provider concept encourages cost savings in terms of hardware and software purchases. This results in higher revenue for the provider, with lower overheads than might otherwise be the case. For example, in terms of hardware, a managed security service may buy routers and switches from the manufacturer who makes the equipment. This enables the provider to offer high quality equipment at a low price.

Another advantage of managed security service provider model is the ease with which shared resources (i.e. routers, switches, IP phones etc.) can be deployed. Any number of devices that meet the data security requirements can be added to the managed security service. This also results in lower costs, as only those devices that need access to the data unit will require maintenance. Also, if multiple devices have access to the data unit, then this simplifies the associated maintenance effort.

The benefits of this form of managed security service provider go beyond cost savings. Once the provider has established its reputation within the industry as an expert in the field of managed security services, it becomes more likely that other customers will want to do business with the same company. This leads to a win-win situation for all parties involved. The customer gets value for money, the service provider avoids maintenance costs and overhead, and the business community benefits from increased competition and more clients. Recently, in April 2021, U.S.-based endpoint security vendor Cybereason launched its managed security services provider program to double down on its North American channel.
