What Programming Language Is Used In Business?

The monumental shift in our economy due to the global pandemic made many businesses embrace digital technology. And as we adapt to this new era, many more enterprises will incorporate computers and artificial intelligence (AI) in their business profiles. Like how hundreds of human languages exist, computers have their own too. There are over 700 different programming languages that developers and users like us can use to communicate with a computer.

Programming languages allow users to give specific instructions to computers in a language that it understands. Then, depending on the need, businesses can choose a language that guarantees the greatest return on investments.

Here are five programming languages that most businesses use today. Once mastered, these can be essential in optimizing digital presence and business' reach.

1. Python

This programming language is used widely by megacorporations like Facebook, JPMorgan, Quora, Pinterest, and extremely popular data scientists and AI specialists.

This programming language is notable for its simplicity yet high productivity rate, its pre-built libraries, and to top, its free licensing.

Developers prefer this coding because of its easy-to-learn syntax and the ability to unite with other languages. It is also an open-source technology that means zero cost and has a strong community that constantly creates pre-built solutions.

One example of python technology is Netflix's personalized and extensive library choice, whereas it suggests new movies to watch based on your movie preferences and watch history. This technology is called machine learning.

The social networking site Instagram also uses python technology for its backend and brags about having the largest python deployment in the world.

2. Java

Due to its fast-performing and object-oriented programming language, this is the top choice of billion-dollar companies like Google, eBay, and Goldman Sachs.

High-risk and performance-dependent businesses also turn to this programming language due to its safety and productivity, so investment banks and government services use this for safety reasons.

Twitter is one of the most brilliant illustrations of Java technology. This language made it possible for Twitter to set a record for the number of tweets in one second. Google Web Toolkit and Gmail also have Java codes inside.

3. C/C++

Developers consider this a general-purpose and object-oriented language used in database management systems and operating systems. This language is also most popularly used in systems programming and embedded systems.

Two prominent examples of C++ code-operated technology are the Windows Operating System by Microsoft and Microsoft Office applications. Its versatility, efficiency, and high performance make developers choose it for high complexity data manipulation over new programming languages.

Other apps written in this language are Adobe systems such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier.

4. JavaScript

Java and JavaScript are two distinct languages despite the closeness of their names. JavaScript is another yet similarly powerful language that is used by millions to build interactive applications.

One of the most fundamental developments that use this language is the World Wide Web. Just about every website uses this, from the simplest menu pop-up on a webpage to some of the most major Android applications today.

Many businesses use this language due to its speed, easy-to-debug, and efficiency in running client-side and server-side scripts.

5. Hypertext Markup Language

Most commonly known as HTML. This language remains to be the standard and main building block for web page creation. It guarantees the proper formatting of images and texts, so it is correctly displayed in browsers.

What makes this language so universal is that once combined with CSS (the language used to style an HTML) and JavaScript, it can turn any ordinary web page into a positive experience.

If you are someone thinking of a way to impress your target audience with a well-crafted and visually appealing website, learning this language is a must.

There may be hundreds of programming languages existing today, but only a handful of them are frequently used and highly cost-efficient to businesses. The key is to understand your business profile and the demands of it so you can choose which is the best for you and which will help you reach your goals faster.
