Microsoft Office 365 and Office 2016 licences are associated with the client’s email account, not the hardware. They can be easily moved. Transferring an Office 2010 or 2013 licence is more difficult. Office.com/setup

Your 25-character Product Key and the installation disk/file that matches it are required. Some Microsoft Office licenses cannot be transferred.

Is it possible to transfer your license?

Right-click the Command Prompt option in Office 2010 or 2013. Type cd + “Office location path” and press Enter in the Office installation folder. Enter cscript.ospp.vbs/dstatus into the elevated Command Prompt. Click on License Name and Description. You can still transfer it if it contains the text Retail or FPP.

What is the Maximum Number of Installations Permitted?

It is possible to install Office 2010 on another computer, but not transfer the license. You can only have one concurrent Office 2013 installation. A Retail license can be transferred from one computer to the next. The other types of licenses cannot be transferred.  Www.office.com/myaccount

Transfer an Office 2010 License or 2013 License

Use Programs and Features to uninstall Office on your compauter. Check that your computer does not have an Office trial copy. Uninstall any Office trial copies that are on your computer. Install Office from a CD or an installation file. After it is installed, you can open any program in the Office suite. Click File > Account. Type in your Product Key and click Activate Product (Change product key).

Transfer an Office 365 / Office 2016, license

Remove and deactivate the license from your computer. Click the Install button under My Account on the new computer. The setup.exe file will be downloaded. Once it is done, follow the prompts for Office installation. After it is installed, sign in to your Microsoft account.

Certain licenses can be moved easily
