The Cost of Dental Implants vs. Dentures

Costs with Dentures

While the actual costs of dentures vary based on several factors, there are additional costs in the long-term associated with dentures. While some dentures fit well and are able to function without adhesive, in many cases dental adhesive can greatly improve the performance and fit of dentures. Although the cost of denture adhesive is very low, it is a factor that will have to be continuously purchased throughout the lifetime of a denture user.

Another purchase that comes along with dentures is the cleaning solution to soak them in while not in use. This is a relatively small price as well, but will need to be maintained for the duration of use.

Dentures as well, do not necessarily last a lifetime. If properly cared for, dentures can last around 10 years. However, with the mouth changing and gums decreasing in size, dentures will often need to be replaced sooner or adjusted. This can be an additional factor in time and price for the upkeep of dentures.

Costs of Dental Implants

The initial costs of dental implants are higher than removable dentures. Permanent denture implant costs vary based on several factors as well. Not only are dental implants a permanent solution, they provide more comfort and require significantly less care than removable dentures. Dental implant needs to be cared for just as natural teeth would. The costs of dental implants in the long-term can be the same or less than removable dental implants with less upkeep.
