app design — the experiences of a mobility startup

Our development philosophy has evolved considerably, having turned our heads several times before finally focusing on design. We believe that design-centric development best helps us overcome the real estate limitations of a smartphone or tablet while creating an experience that empowers the visual and visceral senses of the end user. Since then, all of our mobile app development, ipad app development, iphone app development projects have revolved around three design principles -

Design for simplicity — The downside to the fast touchscreen smartphones available today is that all of this computing power comes with a disproportionate amount of interface space on the screen. A quick glance at certain apps on each of our smartphones will easily validate a multitude of cluttered and noisy interfaces with which we interact …. Even in our experience with IT departments, we have seen customers requesting a whole host of requests. ‘requirements to be built into application projects, but that doesn’t necessarily mean putting everything here. Our design goal has been to thoroughly examine multi-level, gesture-driven interfaces, leveraging a single screen as much as possible and keeping it clear and simple — “from too much to just”.

Design to complement functionality — Most applications, consumer or commercial, revolve around a primary goal that is supported by a finite feature set. Our design approach has evolved to work backwards to first improve these functional elements and therefore think about how they should appear on the interface. Every gesture, every push of a button, every visualization and every screen is designed to minimize the number of steps without diluting the main functional requirement. It just needs to work … without sweating! application development services company

Design to support scalability — We always try to make sure that the underlying architecture would allow non-existent modules to be racked and stacked on demand. This was really due to the large number of repeated conversations we started having with customers about additional improvements and additions, and in record time. The trick was sort of finding the right balance between Lego and Play-Doh: incorporating multiple levels of modularity without compromising on customization. The design of our framework has evolved to a point where we can create a basic architecture for complex smartphone applications in a matter of hours!
