The Jharkhand High Court on July 29 , took Suo Motu cognizance of the death of a district Judge in Dhanbad who was mowed down in a road accident on Wednesday when he was out on a morning walk.
The Division bench Comprised of Chief Justice Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad on the basis of the letter by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Dhanbad regarding sad and unfortunate demise of Uttam Anand and the CCTV footage called upon the Advocate General of the State, Director General of Police, Jharkhand, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dhanbad and Superintendent of Police (City), Dhanbad and Rajiv Sinha, learned Additional Solicitor General of India.
The Supreme Court dismissed the bail application of a petitioner, who is an Officer of the office of the Alipore District Judge’s Court, accused of floating a tender without the permission of the District Judge.
During the investigation, it has been found that there were no supplies but entries were affected in the documents of the office.
The Counsel, appearing for the State of West Bengal, opposed the bail application and submitted that the petitioner is not cooperating with the investigation.

December 19, 2019: Effective February 1, 2020, Nompumelelo (Mpumi) Mpofu will take charge as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Airports Company South Africa (ACSA).
ACSA is appointing a permanent CEO after Bongani Maseko, whose term ended on November 30, 2018.
Certain allegations were levelled at Maseko for maladministration during his tenure, for which probes are still underway.
She is currently director general in the department of planning, monitoring and evaluation in the South African presidency.
She has extensive experience spanning over 25 years in the fields of transport, infrastructure development, local government and town, urban and regional planning.
During her tenure in the department of transport, Mpofu ensured the development, implementation and monitoring of transport policies and strategies in fields including aviation, rail, maritime, road transport, search and rescue.
Prabowo - Defense minister Prabowo Subianto in Beijing, People's Republic of China (PRC), on Sunday (15/12).
The visit aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense with China.
Prabowo will meet with the Minister of National Defense of CHINA General Wei Fenghe and the Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission of CHINA General Xu Qiliang.
He also scheduled a visit to the State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND), which oversees all strategic industries and the defense in China.
