what is 3D scanning?

Our 3D scanning facilities can take 3D measurements from things as little as a pinhead to as large as a nuclear power generation complex using their 3D scanning services. With 3D digital data in hand, the spectrum of applications becomes nearly endless once we eliminate the limits imposed by traditional measurement technology.

Our reverse engineering and product inspection work is a big part of what we do at Crystal Corp, but our 3D laser scanning and 3D measurement data can be used for a lot of other things. Our team of highly trained experts can convert raw point cloud or CMM data into output formats that may be used for design, documentation, visualization, and analysis.

Starting with your application criteria, we will recommend the best technologies and a suitable file format, such as mesh or 3D CAD data, as part of our 3D scanning service to satisfy your project's requirements. We may advocate combining our short-range, non-contact scanning and PCMM systems with our long-range, laser scanning, or optical tracking technologies in some circumstances, but this is entirely up to you.

Contact Measurement:-
Contact measurement is a technique for gathering single points in small or big quantities relative to each other. This data can then be used for basic geometric reverse engineering, evaluation, inspection, and layout. Digitizing or articulating arms are useful for acquiring localized or small volume information. Optical systems such as laser trackers and Photogrammetry can be used for bigger volumetric applications.

Short-range Contact Measurement:-
Two types of touch probing (digitizing) are included in our PCMM solutions for high-accuracy measurements of items that fit inside a 24-foot envelope.

Non-Contact Measurement:-
The technique of recording the geometry of existing physical items using laser-emitting camera-like devices is known as three-dimensional (3D) white light scanning or laser scanning, which is also known as "digitizing." Laser scanning technologies, also known as 3D image scanners, are used by Exact Metrology to capture the 3D definition of both small and large items.
