Be it Yuvraj of Ranvijay of “Ek Veer Ki Ardaas… Veera”, or “Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year”, or Rudra of “Beyhadh 2”, Shivin Narang has made fans go gaga over him with every character he has portrayed on-screen. Here’s a fast chat in an interview with the young actor:

Shivin Narang, From ‘Beyadh 2’ to ‘Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year’, what has been your biggest achievement?

From the day I stepped into the industry till today I even have only worked on my craft. I never wanted people to understand me as just ‘a good looking guy’ or simply as someone with a pleasant body. I feel looks are very temporary. I always wanted people to understand and respect me for my work. I feel being an honest actor is my biggest achievement and that I have only worked towards becoming one.

Do you think ‘Ek Veer Ki Ardaas… Veera’ was the game changer?

When you start your career by playing a romantic hero, people always see you wish that. But if you are doing a challenging role like ‘…Veera’, it boosts your career and other people start watching you differently. After my second show, tons of things changed and other people started taking me seriously as an actor. That’s once I, as an actor, understood the know-how of acting and it's been wonderful since then.

How does one choose a character?

I have never repeated any character of mine and have always tried to try to do something different from my previous role. As an actor, I attempt to explore the maximum amount possible, because otherwise, it'll be boring for both me and therefore the audience.

What quiet roles are you looking forward to playing?

I want to play unique characters. I don’t want to repeat an equivalent thing. I would like to play a military officer on-screen that’s on my list. I even have not done a mythological show, so that’s on my list too. And that I also want to play a superhero. As a child you dream of becoming a superhero like Superman or Spiderman, I would like to be that on-screen.

You were getting proposals for ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ earlier too. Why did you select to travel this year?

Yes, I used to be getting offers for ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ for a real while, but I knew I'm frightened of a couple of things then I used to be just avoiding it. I used to be also busy with my work commitments. But at this point once they approached me for the show, I told myself ‘Shivin what are you scared of? Let’s roll in the hay.’ and that I visited the show. Once I entered the show I used to be neither thinking that how will I neither look nor wanted to take a picture of myself. I just wanted to overcome my fears and wanted to be honest about them. And that I did convert a couple of, though I aborted some and lost some, it had been a lifetime experience being within the show. Moreover, I feel I changed as an individual because just facing your fears gives you an insight into yourself.

What about the most important and most controversial reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ is that on your list?

I did receive offers for ‘Bigg Boss’, but accepting it depends on tons of things, the primary one is that if I'm able to be locked during a house for such an extended time. Having said that, the format of the show is great, it's an enormous fan following, and that I have followed a few seasons. Obviously, as an audience, you're keen on it, because you get to ascertain a special side of the participants, so it’s fun for us, but it must be purchased them. But, never say never, you don’t know what life might throw at you within the future.”
