How to properly wash and store your polo shirts

Private label polo shirts are a summer wardrobe essential. Businesses can also use polo shirts to portray professionalism and make their employees stand out from the crowd. Polo shirts offer a stylish casual look for business wear and various outdoor activities such as playing golf. If you have polo shirts, it is important to know that washing your shirts correctly is very important. Polo shirts can be very delicate as the collars tend to curl. This means that harsh washing conditions can make the fabric break down. Polo shirts that are worn for playing golf and other outdoor summer sports can be prone to underarm stains.

Why does the fabric matter?

Most polo shirts are made of 100% cotton, polyester, or Pima cotton. It is therefore important to know the differences between these types fabrics as it is essential because their case is different. You should always check the care tag to know the fabric you are dealing with and how to care for the product correctly.

Both Pima and 100% cotton offer softness, breathability and sturdiness. However, Pima cotton has longer fibers and this gives it a higher thread count. This produces a smooth fabric that is soft to touch and durable. Pima cotton should have a 50% longer life expectancy compared to regular cotton. Both Pima cotton and Regular cotton are prone to shrinkage.

On the other hand, Polyester is a synthetic fabric that is resistant to wrinkles, colorfast and can absorb sweat. It also provides quality ventilation even in hot temperatures so it is an excellent choice for sport. You should talk to your private label shirts manufacturer and tell him about your needs so that you can choose the right fabric for the right use.

Washing polo shirts

You should carefully read the washing instructions on the care label of your polo shirt before you wash it. Most polo shirts should be washed in cold water. They should also be dried on low heat in the dryer or air-dried.

Before you start washing your polo shirt, you should button the shirt. Turn the shirt inside out and flip the collar up. This will protect the collar from curling. Make sure you wash shirts with like fabrics and colors together. Shirts with stripes are safe to wash with light or dark colors. You should take care when washing shirts with red-striped polos or red clothing. Red dyes are likely to bleed. You should therefore avoid washing red clothing with white garments.

When washing your polo shirts, use gentle liquid detergent since harsh detergents will cause damage to the shirt. Use a single cycle setting on your machine with only cold water. You should be prepared to remove shirts from the washing machine immediately. You can dry your polo shirts in a drier but you should set the lowest heat setting. Air-drying is the best option.
