How does Expression of Interest in Quebec work?

  • Work experience
  • Language
  • Age
  • Duration of their stay in Quebec
  • Qualifications of the spouse

The Ministry of Immigration, Diversity, and Inclusion prescribes two categories for the selection of candidates.

The first category is:

  • Presently living in Quebec 
  • Have a work permit with validity for 12 months and have worked in Quebec for at least 6 months.
  • Have a post-graduate work permit following the completion of an eligible study program
  • job offer in the metropolitan city.
  • job offer outside the metro city.

The basis of ranking criteria are listed as under:

  • Diploma in Quebec
  • Language proficiency

The government invites the highest-ranking candidates to apply for the Quebec Certificate of Selection. These candidates must also accumulate the points prescribed by the government to qualify for the same. To pass the initial screening, a candidate without a spouse must have 50 points, a candidate with a spouse must have 59 points.
