If you own a parrot, you certainly know that it’s critical that she stays warm, especially in the winter. But, is there such a thing as it being too hot for your parrot? Proper temperature is crucial to Polly’s health. Typically, birds are comfortable at a temperature between 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. They can survive at temperatures between 40 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Here are some tips for keeping your parrot cool in the summer.

Use the wet blanket method. Weta a few towels with cool water and wring them out until they’re no longer dripping. Place the towels over your parrot’s cage. This will provide rainforest conditions for your bird.

Provide a birdbath. Birds love to splash around in birdbaths to cool off. Consider putting some ice cubes in the water so it’ll stay cool longer.

Use of a spray bottle. Polly will love the cool mist from the spray bottle.

Keep Polly’s cage low. Replace a hanging cage with a standing one. Heat rises, so if Polly’s cage is low, she’ll be cooler.
