Cotton is a cash crop. It is a member of the Malvaceae family. It has 2 varieties found in the world. The first is known as native cotton (Gacipium arboreum) and (Ga; herbarium) and the second as American cotton (Ga, hirsutum) and (Bervedens). Cotton is prepared from it, which is called white gold. Cotton plants are like multi-year, bushy trees. Whose length are 2-7 feet. Flowers are white or light yellow in colour. Cotton fruits are called balls, which are smooth and greenish-yellow in colour, they have a structure like bracteoles thorns. Inside the fruit are seeds and cotton. Black soil is required for cotton crop production. Gujarat has the highest cotton production in India. Textiles made from cotton wool in India are called cotton fabrics.
