What are remittances to Venezuela? Remittances, or transfers of money to another country, are usually a good idea in times of financial crisis or other type of natural disaster. What is even more concerning about the current economic state of Venezuela is that many people who send remittances abroad to the bolivarian government of Venezuela are actually sending money from other sources that could further harm the economy already in a state of decline. According to the World Bank, "Venezuela is one of the major sources of foreign transfer of funds. In the past, Venezuela has received more than one-fourth (or more) of all remittances sent to Latin America.

According to the information provided by the Central Bank of Venezuela, the Bolivar government has "cemented measures to combat corruption and the misuse of funds." These measures include strengthening internal controls over companies that receive payments from Venezuela from abroad. However, this doesn't mean that lack of internal controls is the main cause of the problem. The primary reason lies in the inability to adhere to the terms of the Inter-American Financial System Agreement (AFSA) which requires that the nation that is receiving the money account for the money transferred to Venezuela.

According to the data provided by the Central Bank of Venezuela, "the principal obstacle facing Venezuela is the failure of its companies to abide with the set of guidelines laid down by the Supreme Tribunal for Prevention of Crimes against Internationally Abused Companies (TPCI)." In essence, according to the tribunal, any money that is transferred to Venezuela must be accompanied by evidence that proves that the funds were legally acquired by the Venezuelan government. The Central Bank has placed the Venezuelan government in a precarious situation due to its failure to comply with the terms of the agreement. This has led to the Central Bank freezing the assets of all companies that make remittances into Venezuela. While the majority of businesses can continue to conduct business in Venezuela, some will be unable to do so until further notice.

In addition to the freezing of accounts, the Venezuelan government has also implemented an extensive travel warning, that prohibits the majority of foreign nationals from travelling to Venezuela. The reason for the travel warning is based on the possibility that members of the Organization of American States will visit Venezuela and use its banking system to facilitate transfers of money to Venezuela. Additionally the Venezuelan government asserts that the OAS through its inspections, is aiming at removing the Bolivar State. As if that weren't enough, numerous cases were filed in which Colombian as well as Mexican citizens were held in the country for allegedly sending money to Venezuela.

The most striking thing about all this is that Venezuela's government is taking a hard line against anyone who promotes the idea of sending money to Venezuela. The government recently held a news conference recently, in which it stated that any person who receives money from outside would be subject to sanctions. This includes passports and a printing license for anyone selling goods to these citizens remesas a venezuela. This is problematic because more Venezuelans are turning their Bolivar marks into cash and accruing huge debts they cannot pay. The government of Venezuela is responding by looking for those who have left Venezuela to receive their payments to other Latin American countries like Brazil.

The United States and other countries are trying to limit the amount of cash that can be sent to Venezuela due to the current political turmoil. However, Hugo Chavez, his lieutenants, and Hugo Chavez will continue to attack the Bolivar and all other traditional cash currencies. Meanwhile, the citizens of Venezuela continue to convert bolivars into local currency and are taking advantage of their insecure borders to send even more money overseas. Those who want to transfer money to Venezuela in these difficult times should be aware of the situation and use authentic methods, such as Cryptocurrency services. This will ensure that your money is delivered to its destination in a safe manner and will not be used to defraud anyone else.
