Central Government Sends Back Name of 14 Advocates Recommended by SC Collegium For HC Judgeship

According to ThePrint, the central government has returned back the files of 14 advocates, including three women lawyers, who were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for appointment as judges to five high courts.

These proposals had been pending with the government for over a year, and in some cases nearly 24 months.

Two of the 14 names were returned for the second time, according to government officials. This means that, despite the collegium’s repeated requests, the law ministry refused to approve the two names.
