WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY RESIN COVERED LEAF TRIM?

Never waste a lower leaf or bud again, and learn how to turn your leftovers into premium medicine!

Once upon a time, long before bubble bags were available and hash and extracts were hardly available, 99% of home growers were getting rid of their lower leaves and buds. Today, many growers go to great lengths to produce the best hash and extracts on the planet. So, below, you'll learn what to do with leftovers, how to make hashish, and why you should never throw them away again.

  1. WHAT IS THE RESINOUS LEAF?

These are basically the leaves closest to the buds , which means they contain the most resin. Sometimes the fan leaves may even contain resin, but most of the time it is the smaller leaves that are tight around the buds.

As the name suggests, these leaves contain many valuable trichomes clustered around the leaf. They will also have the same quality terpene profile as the buds and should be gently picked up.

  1. DRYING AND MANICURING CANNABIS PLANTS

There are two main methods of drying and manicuring cannabis plants. The first is to meticulously prune each leaf when the plants are freshly harvested. This is called the wet manicure, which can take a long time.

MANICURE IN WET CONDITIONS

The advantages of manicure in wet conditions are as follows:

- The producer can produce hashish or fresh frozen extracts. This means that the plant's cannabinoids have not been decarboxylated and have the same terpene profile as when they are freshly harvested.

- If BHO is made, the end product will again be classified as living resin and a very appreciable smoke.

- Buds can be cut to an identical consistency, then placed on a mesh drying net to be aired for the duration of the drying process. As the main stems and cobs containing most of the moisture are not present, the drying process is accelerated.

- It is easily possible to make a fresh and frozen isolator using bubble sieve bags, ice and water before your crop is close to drying.

MANICURE WHEN YOUR PLANTS HAVE DRIED OUT

The other method is dry cut, which means there is no manual manicure until the buds are completely dry, after 10-14 days of hanging in a temperature-controlled environment. Dry manicure should be done on a sieve to collect any falling trichome heads.

The advantages associated with dry pruning are as follows:

- The dry sieve on the collection screens can be collected and squeezed into a ready-to-smoke piece of hash (instead of having to wait for the isolator to dry).

- The buds are completely dry which means they have been decarboxylated and are now high in THC and contain a different final aroma due to the change in cannabinoid profile.

- Sifting is a great way to extract trichome buds, and can be done with dry buds, or dried sugar leaves.

- It is possible to press with a dry sieve filter using a micron mesh filter, parchment paper and a rosin press.

  1. CHOOSE TO MAKE HASH

So you have decided to follow the traditional hash-making methods that have been used around the world for hundreds of years. Choosing the best hash for your needs may depend on the equipment needed, as well as your skill level and understanding of cannabinoids and terpenes.

EXPLANATION OF HASH WITH ICE WATER

This requires the use of a set of 220 micron to 25 micron sieve bags only. You will also need to use cold water and cool ice. Making ice-water hash can be done either with a fresh frozen filling, which means that the leaves and buds were immediately frozen, or with a dry material.

To make hashish using premium ice cream, you will need the following:

220 to 180 micron bubble sieve bags

Frozen Fresh Topping / Lightly Frozen Dry Topping

A washing machine for your plant material and ice and water

2 buckets to filter your water

High pressure hose with shower head

Ice cubes galore

A spoon and utensils for scooping up the hashish

A plate / paper to rest the wet hash

DRY SIEVING EXPLAINED

The best way to think about this method is to refer to the traditional style of drumming, incorporated by Moroccans. Of course, we can go further and, in the privacy of our own homes, gently rub our dry material on the micron screens. These screens will be very tough, like a silkscreen screen, and will allow a cleaning process, which means the end product will be of full melt quality.

To make a top quality dry sieve, just do this:

Dry plant material of leaves or buds

A various sieve that will clean the plant material

Tools the size of a plastic credit card to move materials across the screen

Work in a cold environment to encourage restlessness

Parchment paper or a clean surface to catch fallen trichome heads.

  1. WHAT ABOUT THE EXTRACTION ?

Going a little deeper than traditional hash making, we can start talking about extracts and the difference between hash and extraction. Many would say that hash and extracts are the same, however, a hash is made from all of the trichomes and the vegetable essence contained in 120-25 microns.

BHO or rosin actually removes terpenes and cannabinoids like tree sap. The body of the trichomes is discarded and removed from the final product. If you think of cracking an egg and removing the yolk, this is called wax.

Butane Honey Oil is a method of passing the butane through a closed loop system and sautéing fresh, frozen, or dry materials. The butane is then removed using a temperature-controlled vacuum and purged of any solvents used in the process.

Rosin is the most recent advancement in the production of solvent-free extraction. She uses micron bags and parchment paper, with heat and pressure to extract essential oils. As we take things one step further from traditional hash making, we can begin to talk about extracts and the difference between hash and extraction. Many would say hash and extracts are the same, however, a hash is made from the entire trichome and plant essence contained from 120-25 micron.
