Which documents are worth shredding?

It is extremely important for each of us to maintain security and protect our loved ones. Therefore, it is worth considering whether we approach the important issue of document shredding in the right way.

Each of us has information and data in our homes that we would like to protect from unauthorised persons. Carefully hidden and sorted in folders, hidden for years in a cupboard. Everyone knows it. However, documents often lose their validity, becoming seemingly useless.

The word "seemingly" is very important, because for us, the information contained therein is no longer valid, but for people involved in criminal activities, our seemingly useless data is a way for them to earn money and use illegally to achieve their own benefits.

To save yourself from unnecessary problems it is worth getting a document shredder. It is a small device whose task is to dispose of paper documents. Think about how many "unnecessary" sheets of paper we have at home, on which seemingly meaningless information is written. Let us imagine a situation. A lady from the bank calls to offer us a loan, we are interested so we carry on the conversation to the end. In the course of this conversation, the lady asks us to give our pesel number or the number of the document confirming identity, many of us do not remember such data, so what do we do? We take out an identity card and give the data. No wonder, right?

However, many people also write these numbers on a piece of paper, which after the conversation is no longer valid. So what do we do? We throw away the seemingly meaningless card. We think to ourselves that it is just a few meaningless numbers. Nothing could be further from the truth! If a string of these numbers reaches a person who is involved in criminal activities and illegal use of data, our problems are guaranteed. Another situation, which also concerns most of us. We run out of credit cards, we find a new one in the letterbox, so what do most of us do with the old one? Of course, they throw it in the waste bin without thinking about the consequences.

Documents and confidential information must be destroyed every time. We often do not realise how serious the consequences can be. Most documents can be destroyed in home shredders. After all, each of us has in our files tax returns or other important documents confirming the amount of our earnings or data from the bank, such as bank statements and accounts.

Most of us also have documents from insurance companies or other important institutions. We also hold documents from our children, medical records and various addresses. Often we are asked to make photocopies of documents which confirm our identity, and then we unknowingly hide these sheets of paper in order to throw them away at the next opportunity. Remember that such photocopies should also be destroyed, as all the data contained therein may be misused and cause us considerable problems.

A shredder is also indispensable equipment for the office, where customer data or, for example, sales data and business reports relating to the same can be easily destroyed. Companies have not only customer address data, but also confidential information about them. If you want to complete all the formalities, you should also take care of data security and its proper destruction in the workplace.
