Google Home smart devices are pretty smart most of the time, but that might not seem so true when it's underperforming. Sometimes it's a Wi-Fi issue, a microphone that isn't hearing you, speakers that don't deliver clear sound, or connected devices that aren't communicating with Google Home.

Regardless of how Google Home doesn't work, Google Home Keep Disconnecting chances are there is a pretty simple explanation and easy fix to get things working again.

This article applies to both Google Home and Google Nest speakers.

Restart Google Home

Regardless of what problem you are having, the first thing to try is to restart it. You've probably heard that rebooting is great for other technologies when they're not working properly, and the same advice holds true here as well.

  • Here's how to restart from the Google Home app:
  • Open the home tab by tapping on a house icon in the lower left corner of the app.
  • Select the Google Home device you want to restart.
  • Tap the settings / gear icon in the upper right.
  • Android Google Home App Home Screen, Streaming Devices, and Speaker Pages
  • Select the three-line menu at the top right of the next page.
  • Choose Restart and then confirm with OK.
  • Google Home device settings and restart option

If restarting in this way doesn't fix the problem you're having, unplug the power cord from the back of Google Home and let it sit like this, unplugged, for 60 seconds. Plug the cable back in and wait another minute for it to fully power up, and then check if the problem goes away.
