How to Improve Functionality of Your Existing Racking Or Shelving System

One of the major choices made when installing an electric wine cellar, whether it is being constructed as part of an existing racking or shelf system, is the type of shelving to use. It is usually obvious from the manufacturer's specifications and the suggested end use that the shelving will either be wood planked or metal wire rack shelving. The latter choice is often preferable because of the flexibility in size, design and purpose, although the former tends to be cheaper in the long run (especially if the rack or shelf runs into the future).

Metal wire shelving is often preferred because of its durability and long life. A further advantage is that there is no requirement for maintenance and a relatively low maintenance level. The disadvantages are that it can be quite expensive, especially if the entire system is to be used and since the cost of electrical current is considerably higher than most of the other available options, it may not be viable in the lowest budgeted area. The cost of using this racking is therefore dependent on the amount of wine stored and the number of bottles that need to be stored. If it is a good use of your existing racking or shelf system then it might be worth considering, though price should not be the deciding factor.

Wood planked racking has a certain appeal that metal wire shelving does not. Wood planked racking can be expensive to install and requires specialist equipment to do so. Another disadvantage is that it is subject to the effects of dampness. The moisture in the air reduces the effectiveness of the material, making it more likely to crack and splinter.

If possible it is a better idea to install a new racking or a new shelf to replace the existing racking or shelf system. There are a number of excellent alternatives to these systems available from a number of manufacturers. Some of the better quality units can even come with an optional French country look, giving the entire unit an additional dimension. With careful planning and consideration of the way the unit will be used and its location, you can make the best choice for both functionality and appearance.

When choosing a unit there are a number of considerations to take into account. It is important to consider how much wine the unit can store comfortably. This is another factor that can impact the final price. A unit that will adequately store the volume of wine you intend to store will require shelves that are adequate in height and width as well as a deep enough back to ensure that all of the wine is stored securely. This is also another factor that will affect the overall quality of the finished product. More help lin bin

There are some other considerations to make when selecting the right type of unit for your wine storage needs, including: the location of where the shelving or racking will be installed, the storage capacity of the shelving or racking, the available space in the room that the shelving or racking will be installed in, and the available options for electrical and ventilation. In many cases, existing shelving or racking systems can be updated by adding new shelving units, which can also improve functionality. If the existing shelving or racking has a weak spot or area that can be improved upon in some way, this can help to make the overall storage more efficient and effective. The most important thing is to take the time to explore all of your options in order to find the right fit for your specific situation.
