Basic requirements for pressure vessel design

The pressure vessel design should first meet the requirements of the chemical process, that is, its structure should be able to complete the specified tasks under the production conditions (pressure, temperature and physical conditions), and determine its safety, stability and long-term use. In addition, the mechanical design of the container components should meet the following requirements.

strength

This is the ability of the container to be damaged by external force, and the container should have great strength to ensure normal production

rigidity

It refers to the ability of components to resist external forces to make them deform. The container and its components need to have rigidity to prevent unallowable deformation during use, transportation or installation. Sometimes, the design of equipment components is determined primarily by stiffness rather than strength. For example, the thickness of a tower pallet is usually determined by stiffness rather than strength. Since the allowable deflection of the tray is very small, usually about 3mm. If the deflection is too large, the height of the liquid layer on the tray will be very different, so that the air flow through the liquid layer cannot be evenly distributed, which greatly affects the efficiency of the tray.

stability

It refers to the ability of a container or component to maintain its original shape under external force. The container or component under pressure needs to be stabilized to prevent it from collapsing or wrinkling.

Durability

The durability of chemical equipment depends on the required use time. The design use time of chemical equipment is usually 10-15 years, but the actual use time often exceeds this number. Its durability mainly depends on corrosion and, in some cases, fatigue, creep or vibration of the equipment. In order to determine the durability of the equipment, select appropriate materials to make it corrosion resistant to the treated media, or need to adopt anti-corrosion measures and correct construction methods.

Tightness

The sealing of chemical equipment is an important issue, and the sealing of equipment is one of the important characteristics of production. Because many materials handled by chemical plants are flammable, explosive or hazardous. If the material in the equipment leaks out, it will not only cause production loss, but also importantly, it will harm the staff and cause an accident. On the contrary, if the air leaks into the negative pressure equipment, it will also affect the process or cause an accident. Therefore, chemical equipment needs to be sealed to determine the safety of personnel, create a good working environment and maintain normal working conditions.

other

In addition to the above basic requirements, the convenience of manufacturing, installation, maintenance and transportation needs to be considered. In addition, economics should also be considered. Under the premise of determining the chemical pressure vessel, the investment in the pressure vessel should be reduced as much as possible, the consumption of materials, the consumption of precious materials (such as stainless steel, etc.), and the maintenance and operation costs should be reduced.
