Types of Marketing

Marketing is all about creating and delivering the right messages to the right audience. It includes anything and everything that communicates a company’s value and benefits to its customers and potential customers.

The marketing department or team can be divided into two parts: at-the-marketing, which is the part of marketing that’s directly involved with consumers, such as product development, branding, advertising, and promotion; at-the-company marketing, which involves fields such as customer service, sales, and public relations. In this article, we learn the types of marketing.

Types of Marketing: Traditional Marketing

Basically, traditional marketing is advertising in any form. Typically, traditional marketing consists of producing TV commercials, print ads in newspapers and magazines, or radio ads.

Traditional marketing is not dead yet. It still holds a significant share of the market when it comes to advertising budgets. But their share is dwindling with time as digital marketing takes over.

1. Newspaper:

Newspapers are still doing it in the traditional way by placing ads on their front page, in-between articles, and at the back of the newspaper. They also rely heavily on “reach” or circulation or readership to drive volume for advertisers. This is done by selling ad space to various companies, who then use it to promote their products.

2. Television: Television is always used as the most popular and preferred marketing channel. This is because television has become an indispensable component of every family.

3. Face-to-face selling: The act of directly marketing to potential customers through in-person communication is known as face-to-face marketing. Scheduled meetings, product demonstrations, exhibitions, and events are examples of face-to-face marketing.

4. Marketers used to do direct phone calls: A phone caller calls random people and tells them about the items and offers in this classic marketing strategy. This marketing technique is used by businesses because it is effective and cost-effective, as it does not require a large investment on the part of the company.

5. Direct Mail: It is the function of sending emails to consumers that contain pamphlets, offer templates, discount coupons, or event invitations.

Types of Marketing: Digital Marketing

The digital marketing industry has changed a lot over the last few years with the use of new technology and digital trends. The industry is now more competitive with a variety of new players entering it. In order to be successful, companies need to use digital technology to their advantage in order to manage customer relationships, prospects, and analytics data.

There are many tools that help maintain customer relationships such as emailing or messaging through social media sites. Companies have the option of using chatbots which are automated programs that can answer any questions a potential customer might have about a product or service in real-time. It is important for businesses to keep up with the latest technological trends so they can stay ahead in this competitive market.

1. Content Marketing

Content Marketing can be defined as the strategy of creating and distributing valuable content to attract or acquire a clearly defined audience in order to achieve a specific goal. The goal of any content should be to generate leads that can also turn into sales for your business.

The role of Content Marketing is growing and so does the demand for talented writers who can create text-based content in any form — articles, blog posts, white papers, etc.

2. SEM marketing

Search engine marketing, also known as SEM, is the process of buying or renting paid search placement in order to appear higher in the list of results on a search engine.

This type of marketing is where one can gain exposure for their website by hacking into the algorithms that power Google’s results pages.

3. (SMM) Social media marketing:

We see that social media has become a hub for advertising and marketing with the increase of social media users.

Over the past few years, with the explosion of social media, marketers have been searching for new ways to improve their marketing.

Social media has paved the way for new marketing strategies like influencer marketing which is now widely used by most businesses.

4. Affiliate marketing:

Affiliate marketing is the process of earning a commission by promoting someone else’s product or service. It’s a pretty lucrative business as you need to invest little time and money.

An affiliate marketer will promote a product or service with a link that will take the customer to the seller’s site. If the customer makes a purchase from their site, then the person who created the link has earned an affiliate commission, which they may share with others who helped them with their link.

Affiliate marketing can be done through many different channels such as social media, email, blogs, and websites.

5. Influencer Marketing:

Influencer marketing is a type of social media marketing that relies on endorsements and product mentions from influencers–people with a large social following who are thought to be experts in their field.

6. Video Marketing:

Everything from building customer rapport to promoting your brand, services, or products can benefit from video marketing. Video marketing can also be used to show how-tos, promote customer testimonials, and live-stream events.
