Effects Of Air Pollution

 1. Air Pollution: Causes And Effects

There are some air pollution facts that most people are not aware of. This air pollution is a problem around the world and the pollutants include carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, gaseous pollutants, and particulate matter. It can cause or aggravate many health conditions including lung cancer, chronic breathing problems, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, COPD, emphysema, and other lung diseases. The effects of air pollution varied and may be acute or chronic.

Acute air pollution is a reaction to some environmental causes like burning fossil fuels, factories, power plants, gas production, pesticides, animal dung, and also agriculture. Chronic air pollution is a result of long-term exposure. Air pollution can be a by-product of industrial processes or agricultural processes. There are also chemical pollutants like sulfur oxide, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxides that can cause damage to the ozone layer. Cites like New York can be major offenders.

Air pollution also has adverse implications on human health. Emotional symptoms like stress, depression, anxiety, and fatigue are common because of air pollution. Lung conditions like asthma and chronic bronchitis have also been associated with air pollution. Psychological health problems such as paranoia, social withdrawal, and depression have also been associated with air pollution.

Studies have shown that there is an increase in morbidity due to air pollution. Diseases that are respiratory in nature have an increased incidence in countries that suffer from air pollution. Diseases such as lung cancer and tuberculosis are common among people who work in smog-filled cities. Respiratory infections such as influenza and pneumonia are also common.

Air pollution can have adverse effects on the environment too. Forests and wildlife can be seriously affected if this continues. People rely on forests and plant life for their survival. The increased air pollution can seriously impact the ecosystem and put at risk our food chain too. We need to reduce and eliminate this problem now before it is too late.

There are a number of technologies that have been developed to deal with air pollution. One such technology is carbon dioxide Capture and Storage (also known as CCS). This process uses a carbon absorption material like sand to absorb emissions from a smog-free city. After emission, the captured carbon will be used to create electricity or water. Carbon sequestering is another technology that deals with the emission of CO2 in our environment. It works by limiting the number of fossil fuels used thus drastically reducing the number of pollutants being released into the atmosphere.

2. How To Reduce Air Pollution

Air pollution is the cause of many sicknesses and death worldwide. It is very important to reduce air pollution because it not only affects us physically, but it also affects the environment. We need to minimize the number of pollutants in our environment. Learning how to reduce air pollution means being aware and educating ourselves on the causes, effects, and precautions for reducing pollutants in our surrounding environment.

Air pollution is caused by the emission of particulate matter, these are particles of different sizes. There are many different types of air pollution such as vehicular emission, factory emissions, agricultural and commercial emissions and even naturally occurring pollutants from plants and animals. The type of air pollution in any given area is determined by the size, texture, and composition of the air particles. Smaller particles have a low density and float to the upper atmosphere easily while larger particles sink to the lower levels. As a result, these larger particles can be carried away by wind and enter into our breathing air where they produce the dangerous gaseous emissions that we know as pollution.

If we want to reduce pollution then one of the best ways is to purchase a good quality air filter that will help to improve air quality. An air filter is an appliance that can improve the quality of the air you breathe in or outside your home. There are many different types of air filters available including HEPA, UV, Ozone, and other filters. You can choose to use an air filter indoors or outdoors. I recommend using an air filter indoors if you spend time indoors because of the increased chance of exposure to toxins indoor pollution. Not only will changing your air filter often help your air quality it can also help to reduce your Con Ed utility costs.

Another way to reduce pollution is to improve the ventilation in your house. Improving the ventilation includes opening the windows and turning on the fans during summer and keeping the house ventilated during cold weather. Use high-efficiency windows and air conditioning. This will keep the level of toxic gaseous pollutants in your house low. The better your ventilation system the less chance you have of being exposed to harmful gaseous pollutants that can cause health problems. Figure out the best ways to keep your house clean and keep your electricity usage in check.

The third and final step you can take towards improving the quality of your air is to look at making some changes to your lifestyle. I recommend cutting down on smoking and drinking alcohol. If you can do without them then try and do so. These three simple steps will make a big difference to your air quality, whether it is indoors or outdoors.

By making changes in your lifestyle you can reduce air pollution substantially. You would be amazed at how many differences making just a few lifestyle changes can make. Not only will you feel and see a difference in your health from reducing harmful pollutants but you will also see a change in your wallet. I recommend looking further into these solutions and natural gas as a way to reduce your overall home energy costs.

3. Importance Of Energy Efficiency For Air Pollution

When most people think of energy efficiency, they usually think of saving money and saving the planet. In reality, an energy efficiency certification is an important tool for helping to make your home more efficient. Energy Star ratings are important for many buildings today, as a third of new homes and businesses are being built with these star ratings. However, there's a lot more to this rating system than meets the eye.

Saving energy and improving air quality are both important. Both are very real factors that will directly impact your health. But if you're building a new home, it's even more important to make sure that you're getting the most out of the energy you invest in your home. Having an energy-efficient home and keeping up with those energy efficiency standards can help to ensure that you and your family live in clean healthy air.

Improved energy usage can directly decrease the amount of air pollution in your neighborhood. The fewer emissions your building produces, the less air pollution in your home or business releases. This means lower prices for you and reduced health costs for everyone in your neighborhood. Energy Star-rated buildings are even more beneficial because of the low air pollution they produce.

More efficient buildings are also more cost-effective. They use less energy, so you can save a lot of money on your utility bills and avoid paying for electric replacements. This will lead to lower utility bills and less debt for you and your family. You'll also have saved thousands of dollars in your initial investment by utilizing more efficient building techniques.

Improved energy consumption means a cleaner environment. When you're building a home, it's important to choose wisely the materials you're using for construction. Using energy-efficient materials helps to reduce the amount of energy needed to run your home, which is especially important in places that receive little sunlight. Less energy used means less air pollution.

If you own or rent your current home, it's a good idea to consider upgrading either for plan or rate. With our continuing reliance on fossil fuels to provide power, we're putting our environment at risk. We can all do our part to help decrease our use of these fuels. Talk to your builder to find out what type of improvements you can make to your home, and what can be done about your current building technologies. Energy efficiency for air pollution is an important consideration when you're choosing a new building or remodeling.
