 Who invented the building block?

Friedrich Fröbel invented the self-locking blocks in 1837 for preschool children. Down the years, these wooden blocks were made tinier into multicolored blocks that kids could use to create skyscrapers, cars, and little people, among many other creations.

 Blocks are technically considered manipulatives. Kids can manipulate the blocks by fixing them into each other and build new shapes. As younger kids use blocks, their motor skills are sharpened, and muscle tone increased.
