The Mitsubishi FTO isn't a high performance automobile by any means. In fact, the car is probably one of the more basic ones in its class. Nonetheless, it's one that offers a great deal of value for money, and the various models are all capable of giving a real driving experience. This is especially important considering the general price range for the vehicles. There are plenty of alternatives which will fit any budget, but this vehicle offers the best overall combination of price, looks and performance.

With an overall length of around 5500mm and a height of just 150mm, the Mitsubishi F TO is really quite a big car. But despite its size, it doesn't look too big in comparison with some of the other small Japanese performance vehicles. In fact, many car enthusiasts consider it to be similar in size to an old Nissan Skyline. It has a straight front wheel drive, but does have some interesting features such as side stroke air bags, adjustable rear suspension, Electronic Brake force Distribution, multi-stage strut Transfer System, LFA (level of advance performance exhaust), torque vectoring, and BBS (bolt in solid state drive).

The most innovative feature on the Mitsubishi FTO facelift is the new roof design, which uses a two stage fold system. The first stage locks the roof in place, ensuring that the whole car is protected from the elements, although the second stage can reverse the effect if required. The second stage also has a climate control element, which when set to Auto with a push button, allows the air to flow over the roof of the vehicle, whilst automatically lowering the car when the car is being driven. This is great for those drivers who aren't concerned about the sun's constant heating on their face.

The second generation of Mitsubishi FTO has a host of new features, most notably the sporty exterior. The all new front grille has projector fog lights, and a carbon fibre reinforced front bumper. Along with these external changes, the interior has been completely redone, including a brand new 2.0L i-Pod compatible sound system, new leather interior, and new wide tailgate. The standard JDM-style body style still offers a single roof mounted light kit. A sporty four-wheel drive is enough for most people, but for those interested in driving a little further, there is the option of a Track Pack available for purchase.

The all new Mitsubishi F TO models offer great value for money thanks to their many advantages over older model Japanese sports cars. They are easy to drive, fuel efficient, and fairly quiet, which are main factors for many buyers when considering buying a car. The standard JDM-style body style still provides a great looking and powerful presence on the road, and these cars always remain a firm favourite among long-time fans of the original marque.

Mitsubishi continues to grow in size and stature, and they are constantly endeavoring to improve their vehicle offerings, both in design and performance. With their continued support of the JDM style of body building, it is expected that the standard Mitsubishi f TO model will always remain a stalwart in the hearts of dedicated car enthusiasts everywhere. With the addition of a Track Pack to the models, it is clear that Mitsubishi have succeeded in providing an all around package for performance enthusiasts and sports car aficionados, without compromising on design and sophistication. It is safe to say that the standard Mitsubishi f TO models are here to stay, and are here to stay as the standard for performance Japanese cars are always improving.
