The Reason for changing Immigration to the UK

Why You Need a Lawyer With Experience and Expertise | Buzzell, Welsh & Hill

European Union countries citizens had an involuntary right to work in the UK, as the UK was an EU member. A major theme of the Leave campaign in the 2016 referendum was control of immigration. Now the points-based system is introduced as the work visas for the new system. A Common Travel Area would be the UK where the Irish citizens would be able to work and live freely in the UK on that basis.

New Rules Requirements

Considering the immigration system, the UK has always maintained the best and agreeable character in this regard. Subsequently, new immigration rules are no exception. The United Kingdom once again has shown the laid-back and easier specific threshold to be implemented by its border control officers and immigrants.

Points-Based System (New Immigration System)

A new immigration system is based on a point-based system. It is important to qualify 70 points to move to the UK for the migrant workers and attain the visa.

  • 50 points would be rewarded to a person who is able to speak English and has a job offer from an approved employer for a skilled job.
  • 20 points if individuals are due to be paid at least £25,600 a year, then an applicant would get it.
  • 20 points would be granted to a PhD in science, technology, engineering or maths or 10 points for a relevant PhD. In short, an extra point would be granted for having better qualification. Or offer a job which the UK has shortage of, even with lesser finance.
  •  20 points would be gained by jobs in health or education even with a lower salary.

Financial Demands are Improved

The new immigration policy system introduces an eased form of financial demands.

  • Candidates do not require the certificate from the bank on every page, they can rely on electronic bank statements.
  • Candidates such as skilled workers, start-ups or innovator routes need to show 28 days' funds.
  • Candidates within 31 days of the application date need to submit evidence of funds.
  • Candidates need to get support or a sponsor that is bringing them in, who would easily afford to support them with lodging and stable assistance on their part. This is another important rule passed by the UK for people who want to live in the UK.

Updates for Students Visa

  • Graduate students are given more leniency by offering additional 3 years to PhD students. Likewise, a further 2 years' stay would be granted to the students who have completed their Master as they could make a sound decision for the future.
  • Up to six months at accredited institutions, studies could be done on a visitor visa.

For foreign students to study in the country, the UK has introduced the new student visa routes, as education highly contributes to the country’s economy every year.

Updates for Visiting the UK

According to the new immigration policy, to enter the UK when visiting the UK for up to 6 months, for the EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and other non-visa nationals do not require a visa. Moreover, for study or work, they will need to apply for entry clearance in advance for all migrants looking to enter the UK.

Updates on Health & Education

  • For doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, the UK has introduced a fast-track visa scheme.
  • depending on the type of work they do, candidates through this fast-visa route will have to meet the salary threshold.

Updates on the Digitalisation of Border

  • Completely digitizing border immigration and allowing border forces to verify an individual’s status via their computers as opposed to one demonstrating their documentation for inspection, the Home Office is resolved to replace all physical vignettes and visas with electronic equivalents.

Concluding Thoughts

The new immigration policy of the UK is more sophisticated and advanced than the previous ones.  Hopefully, the latest rules would assist the immigrants and people across the border.
