The relay module is an electrical device that controls the flow of electric current.
A relay can be used to switch on and off a more significant load, such as an incandescent light bulb or a television set, from a smaller control circuit. The relay has three terminals: one for power input, one for the load connection, and one for turning it on/off.
When there is no voltage at the "control" terminal (C) of the relay's coil (L1), current flows through L1 and L2 to ground via R1, passing through D2 to provide power to whatever is connected at C. This state corresponds with what would be called "normally open," indicating that when C = 0, then O = 0.
When power is applied to C, the relay's coil L comes into contact with both D and R, allowing current to pass through it in one direction only - if O = + then I = + but not vice versa.
This state corresponds with what would be called "normally closed," indicating that when C = 0, then O=+.Benefits of using Relay Modules:- They are also more resilient than using a switch for industrial applications where there may be dirt, dust, or water present as it's not directly connected to live components but rather has its "output" wired through an external relay coil which acts as insulation on an electrical circuit.
This helps in keeping relay modules from being worn down by debris that would stick between switches.- Relays provide redundancy should one component fail since any given relay module will have at least two outputs; either output can be set to control a relay coil.- Relay modules are very durable and efficient in most applications, saving energy costs as they don't draw any power when the relay is not switched.- Relay Modules are easy to use and have been designed for industrial applications- Relays allow you to control an external load up to around 250 volts AC or DCIndustrial Applications of relay modules: - Industrial relay module used in the automation industry.
