Ryder Cup 2023: Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau rekindled the dispute with a forced pre-match comment

Both Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau were quick to downplay fears that they would lose the fierce competition after the Ryder Cup in September. Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau rekindled their fierce dispute ahead of Friday's game, marking their documented hug at this year's Ryder Cup as "forced." Since the start of the 2019 Saudi International Tournament, Koepka and DeChambeau have had many conflicts, this is one of the most intense golf competitions in recent years.

Their ongoing battle is said to have raised concern for the US team's 2021 Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker as they were both selected to the US team's 12-man lineup.

In the Wisconsin game, however, the two seemed able to put their differences aside as they both starred in the US teams’ record-breaking win even before the hug at the post-game press conference.

After the announcement that Koepka and DeChambeau will be competing in the fifth installment of the series, this hug may have originated among the worst of the organizers of the Capital One "competition" event.

However, both American stars reiterated that their relationship was far from amicable before they embarked on the 12-hole game, which no doubt rekindled the excitement of golf fans around the world as they prepare to play this Friday.

In an interview before the match this week, both Koepka and DeChambeau confirmed that the hug they shared during the Ryder Cup is definitely a "forced" hug.

When asked if the hug finally made their hatred disappear, Koepka replied, "I won't force the hug."

After the four-time champion filed a cold claim, his rival DeChambeau agreed: "It's definitely a bit reserved."

The 2020 US Open champion continued: "The team wants us to do this. Frankly, I'm surprised he did it. But if you apologize, I'm someone who can put things behind me quickly. Then we can move on.”

"But it's definitely a feeling of being forced, not an apology or anything like that. What he didn't get, nothing will change, and until I apologize for what he said."

The 28-year-old added that he found the treatment he had received with his Ryder Cup teammates in recent years "disgusting" and that the two had carried out multiple attacks via the media and the internet during their altercation.

He added: “The way this man tried to take me down is disgusting. He doesn't need it in a game of golf, he just wants to knock me down from all angles, by all means.
