The role of NGOs is unparalleled.

The scope, range, and scale of growth and development in India are tremendous. In addition to the economy, a variety of other factors need to be considered, such as social growth, quality of life, empowerment, women's and children's development, education, and universal consciousness. Developing a country is a massive undertaking that requires a detailed approach and goes beyond the implementation of government policies and programs. Diverse sectors, societies, and NGOs must work together to achieve this feat through a holistic vision and mutual efforts.

Even with the aforementioned support, when it comes to rural development, there is still a huge gap between what is desired and what is actually accomplished, which is why the role of NGOs in rural development is of paramount importance. The philanthropic nature of NGOs makes them adept at spreading awareness and changing the way in which the rural population thinks and acts, ensuring that they adhere to the policies and take advantage of the programs that are launched, serving their specific needs and requirements. this can also be systematized to target a particular community or locality in order to ensure a productive relationship with the government.

NGOs have played an increasingly important role in the rural development of India over the years. The role of NGOs in rural development has changed dramatically with the change in government policies through different plans, and as a result, NGOs have now attracted professionals from different fields who serve as planners and implementers of developmental plans and mobilizers of local resources. NGO involvement in rural development is therefore not only valuable but also vital to the development of a self-sufficient and sustainable society. These organizations serve as a bridge between citizens and governments.

Aside from facilitating development, education, professionalization, etc., NGOs undertake all these responsibilities and rarely get credit for overcoming countless obstacles in pursuit of their objectives. Having said that, the success of rural development depends on the willingness and active participation of the rural populace.

Save the Children, for example, has impacted the lives of many through its work with government bodies and agencies in the field of children's welfare. In India, they currently operate in 19 states.
