  • PAN and Aadhaar Card of the applicant as an identity proof 
  • Proof of business registration should be submitted
  • Address and identity proof of the promoters and director such as passport, aadhaar card, driving license, ration card, and voter’s identity card should be submitted 
  • Passport size photo of promoter/partner
  • Bank account details such as bank statement, the first page of passbook and canceled cheque which contains the name of the individual or the business entity, bank account no. and bank branch needs to be provided
  • Place of business address proof should be provided as mentioned in the application for GST registration
  • Letter of authorization as proof of appointment of authorized signatory 


GST registration process online


Here is the step by step guide to complete the GST registration process online. 


  • Visit the GST portal – https://www.gst.gov.in
  • Click on the Register Now link that can be found under the Taxpayers tab
  • Then choose ‘New Registration’
  • Fill in the details like name of the business, PAN of the business and so on. 
  • Then on the next page, enter the OPT that you got on your mail. Click on Proceed
  • You will then be shown a 15 digit Temporary Reference Number (TRN) on the screen. Kindly make a note of it 
  • Visit the GST portal again. Then click on ‘Register’ under the ‘Taxpayers’ menu
  • Select TRN number now and mention it with captcha details
  • Again, click on proceed and then you will get OTP on your mail. Enter the OTP and click proceed
  • After that, on a different web page, you’ll find the status of your GST application. On the right-hand side, there’ll be an edit icon - tap it
  • On the following page, you will see ten sections. Fill in all the relevant details and submit all required documents
  • Once the task is completed, a success message will appear on the screen 
  • The Application Reference Number (ARN) will be then sent to the registered mobile number and email address as provided by you
  • Then, you can check the status of the ARN on the GST portal
