Indian Army was founded on 26 February 1950. Before independence, it was known as British Indian Army that was founded in the year 1 April 1895. Indian Army is a prominent part of the Indian Armed Forces assigned to execute a role in land warfare with the “Service Before Self” motto. Indian Army celebrates its day of the anniversary on 15 January.

There are four main entries to get into IMA. In your final year of Graduation, you need to pass the Combined Defence Services exams, clear the SSB, be medically fit, and join IMA as a Direct Entry if you come in merit. The other entries are 10+2 Tech Entry, where you apply after your 12th.

Basic Pay and Grade Pay are two terms used while describing the salary in any organization.


Basic pay stands for the base income of any employee based on their designation. It generally comprises 35% to 50% of the total salary, excluding the bonus and allowances, and it is a fixed amount.


The Grade pay of any government employee is calculated based on its designation and the conferred pay band. It is calculated according to the norms of the 7th pay commission applied on the employee’s post.
