How to Port to Vi via Online and Offline Channels?

Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is a facility that enables users to switch from one mobile operator to another while retaining their existing number. Vi makes the exhaustive porting process easy and seamless. Any subscriber can port to Vi if not fully satisfied with their existing service provider. Once MNP is requested, a unique porting code (UPC) is generated by sending an SMS, PORT followed by a 10 digit mobile number to 1900. This needs to be shared with the representative at the time of SIM card delivery. Vi offers MNP facility via both online as well as offline channels.

MNP Process & How it works

  • MNP Online:

Vi has a dedicated page for MNP on its website using which you can port your number to Vi online.

1.    Visit the MNP online page and enter basic details like your area pin code and number you wish to port

2.    Select from the range of Vi prepaid or postpaid plans that suit your requirement

3.    Enter your address and make payment to place an order

4.    A new SIM card will be delivered to your address free of charge

5.    At the time of SIM delivery, generate a Unique Porting Code (UPC)

6.    Share UPC with the Vi executive and get your Vi SIM-card!

  • MNP Offline:

To port to Vi through offline way:

1.    Visit your nearest Vi store or an authorized retailer

2.    Carry your ID proof and address proof along with you

3.    Generate a UPC from the mobile number to port

4.    A new SIM will be handed over to you

5.    You will receive alerts about your porting status every step of the way

It is also important to note that all pending dues should be cleared with the existing operator before you request for MNP. All contractual obligations with the service providers should be fulfilled before a port request is made.
